Jaffna Mayor Emmanuel Arnold and Toronto Mayor Markham graced the annual two day Tamil Festival held in Toronto recently. It was held under the patronage of Tamil Congress. An exhibition and a foot ball competition were also held. A large number of Tamils participated.

The annual nine day Kandy Esala Perahera concluded on Sunday, August 26 with the participation of a large number of devotees. The water cutting ceremony was held in the Mahaweli gange near Getambe. The Heads of Vishnu Devalaya, Kataragama Devalaya, Nagaloga Devalaya and Pathini Devalaya participated.
The magazine depicting the significance of the annual festival of the Nallur Kanthaswamy Temple titled 'Nallai Kumaran Malar' was launched at the Cultural Hall under the patronage of the Jaffna Mayor R.Arnold today.
