It gives me great pleasure to send a message of greeting to the All Ceylon Hindu Congress on the occasion of its Diamond Jubilee Celebration and the release of a special issue of the ACHC’s religious journal ‘Hindu Oli’.
It is in fact noteworthy that this Organization has been making outstanding contribution in the arena of social and religious service for sixty long years. It has been conducting ceremonies to mark Hindu festivals such as Sivarathri and Navarathri. It has been holding free educational seminars for GCE O/L students and also religious seminars.
A striking service of the ACHC is the formation of Siva Thondar Ani among the youths to draw them under an umbrella for social and religious service.
It is an unforgettable experience for me that in the eighties, I had an opportunity to function as the Joint Secretary of the Citizens Committee appointed by the ACHC and make representation to Hon. Ranil Wickremasinghe, the then Minister of Education, regarding the sorry plight of students in the North and East and secure them admission to Colombo schools.
I extend my greetings to ACHC members for their great service and pray that their service thrive in the years to come.
