Attack on Rohingya refugees; Ven Dayaratne Thero released on bail


Venerable Akmeemana Dayarathana Thero, who was arrested for threatening Rohingya refugees, was today, October 10, released on bail by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court. Earlier the Buddhist monk and seven other suspects were arrested in connection with the attack which had occurred on September 26.

Anti SAITM protest; protestors restraint from entering public institutions


Colombo Fort Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne has issued an order restraining protestors participating in Anti-SAITM protest from entering any public institution including the Presidential Secretariat by force. They were directed to conduct the protest in a decent and polite manner without disrupting the general public and vandalizing public property.

Death at Negombo Prison; Acting OIC remanded


Negombo Magistrates Court on Friday remanded Divulupitiya Police Acting Crimes OIC IP Saman Priyanka till October 10 over the alleged death of a 50 year old suspect detained at Negombo Prison.
