GMOA President summoned by CA


The Court of Appeal has summoned the President of the Government Medical Officers’ Association Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya to appear before the court on May 22 and show cause as to why he should not be punished for contempt of the Court of Appeal for having caused an affront to the dignity of the court by making abusive public statements consequent to the Court of Appeal judgement dated Jan. 31, 2017.

CA issues Writ to disqualify MP Geetha Kumarasinghe


Court of Appeal has issued a Writ of Quo Warrant to disqualify UPFA Member of Parliament Geetha Kumarasinghe from holding office as an MP since she had held a dual citizenship at the time of seeking nomination to enter Parliament.

Dismiss Vasu’s FR in limine: ASG to SC


Attorney General has urged the Supreme Court to dismiss in limine the Fundamental Rights petition filed by MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara who sought an order to quash the Framework Agreement entered into by the Government of Sri Lanka with two Chinese companies.

Court restrains protests in Piliyandala for 14 days


Kesbewa acting Magistrate Sunil Weerasinghe on Friday issued an order restraining any form of protests for 14 days in the Piliyandala police division that would inconvenience the public. Accordingly, no protests will be allowed for a 14-day period from April 22, 2017.
