The Bar Association of Sri Lanka has stated that it has been the unwavering position of BASL that the purported removal of Dr. Shirani Bandaranayake from the Office of Chief Justice was unconstitutional, null and void and of no force or effect in Law and that, therefore, the purported appointment of Mohan Peiris was unconstitutional, null and void and of no force or effect in Law, since there was no vacancy in the Office of Chief Justice.
