'Recognize failures, address issues': Champika to UNP and allies

General Secretary of Jathika Hela Urumaya Patali Champika Ranawaka has observed that the results of the polls show that the government has failed and the UNP and its allies must work with more dedication for a large voter base pin expectations on UNP and its allies.

He said: "The election result clearly reflects that as a government we have failed to fulfill the promise of 'good governance' given by us to the people at the 2015 presidential election.

As a democratic government responsible for the people and the wishes of the people we have to accept the verdict of the mases and act accordingly.

It is the responsibility of the government and its allied parties to bring in the policy and structural changes demanded by the masses.

In 2015, masses rallied around us with a lot of hope. Three years later, even though there were certain lapses on our part, a large voter base continue to pin their expectations on us, the election result reflects it."
