The plight of Muslims in the aftermath of attacks lamentable: Azath Salley before PSC

Azath Salley before PSC 700 01
Former Western Province Governor Azath Salley has stated that the plight of the Muslim community in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attaks is lamentable. PSC must intervene to stop the spread of hate speech against Muslims.

He made this observation while testifying before the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on Tuesday.

He stated that the authorities had been warned several times about the National Thowfeek Jamaath (NTJ). The suicide bombers involved in the Easter Sunday attacks were members of the NTJ. When he was Governor he had warned the President on a number of occasions while the Muslim community has also warned the authorities prior to that. However, no action had been taken on the group before the Easter Sunday attacks.
