Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has observed that although they won the Presidential Elections with the votes of the South, they would not abandon the people of the North and the East.
He made this observation addressing an election rally at Janahamuwa in Kudawella, Hambantota recently. During his address, Mahinda said:
“We are set to develop the country and win the hearts of the people, a North-South division. For this, we need the support of the people in the North.
Those who said the ‘Presidential Election cannot be won without the votes of the North’ still say the same today. In the recent past, a group of individuals campaigned saying that the Presidential election cannot be won without the North and East elections. Still to this day, they say the same.
With the stall of development projects of the country under the good governance government, many industries and businesses faced a devastating collapse. We are ready to solve the unemployment issues that have arisen in the country. For this purpose, new industries will be introduced to the public.
A local pharmaceutical company is ready to be opened on a 450-acre land that was allocated for this purpose in Hambantota. We will also start a local tire manufacturer as the rubber manufacturers in this country have the opportunity to supply us resources.”
