Tamil National Alliance Leader R.Sampanthan has appealed to the Tamils in the North and East to cast their votes to the Tamil National Alliance candidates to empower them to voice for the rights of the Tamil people in both Sri Lanka and in the international forum.
He made the appeal addressing an election meeting at Thampalakamam recently. President of Thambalakamam Kottam K.Baskaralingam chaired. TNA candidates of the Trincomalee district including S.Kugathasan, K. Jeewaruban participated.
Addressing the campaign meeting, Sampanthan said:
“ We are not against the majority community. We recognize them as brothers and sisters. That is Thanthai Chelva’s policies. We urge the majority community to resove our issues on the basis of justice and equality.
It is unfortunate that the agreements we enetered into with Sinhalese leaders SWRD Bandaranaike, Dudley Senanayake were not implemented. Had they been honoured there would have been communal amity, harmony and prosperity in our motherland.”
