EPDP leader and Minister Douglas Devananda has observed that Iranaitivu Island was unsuitable for burying Covid-19 victims and had caused a stir in the Northern Procince.
He also stated that the decision at issue would adversely affect not only the lives of the people but also the projects; the government was expected to receive more than US $ 25 million in foreign exchange through the recently launched project on Iranaitivu Sea cucumber Export Village.
He urged the President and the Prime Minister to reconsider the decision and decide on alternative sites in a fair manner to safeguard the interests of the people belonging to all communities.
