Uncultivated state, private lands will be brought under the plough: President


President Maithripala Sirisena has observed that all private lands which are not cultivated will be handed to those who are willing to cultivate them. He added that all state lands also will be cultivated in relation to this program.

He made this observation speaking at the event held on Sept 9 to vest the new Pradeshiya Sabha building in Dimbulagala with people.

During his address, President Sirisena went on that a gazette notification will be issued under existing laws to give effect to this proposal. The decision will be taken under the Vaga Sangramaya program to be launched next month to increase the food production by bringing the drought affected lands to the normal conditions and to save the people of the country from poverty, strengthen the national economy and to build a prosperous country for future generations.

Dimbulagama Aranya Senasanadhipathi Ven. Villane Siriyalankara Thero and Maha Sangha, State Minister Vasantha Aluwihare, Chief Minister of North Central Province Peshala Jayarathne, member of the North Central Provincial Council Jayantha Marasinghe, members of Provincial Council N. A. Sampath and H. M. Anzar were among those participated in this event.
