A meeting was held by the Tamil Desiya Viduthalai Kootamaippu to introduce its candidates for the local polls who will be contesting under the Rising Sun symbol. The meeting was held at the Mannar Town Hall. Former Vice Chairman of the Mannar Urban Council James Jesudas presided.EPRLF Leader Suresh Premachandran was the Chief Guest.
Sri Lanka Muslim Congress Leader Minister Rauff Hakeem met with SLMC candidates contesting for Akkaraipathu Municipal Council and Pradesa Sabas under the Elephant symbol and briefed them of the party's stance. The meeting took place at the residence of the former Provincial Councilor Thavam.
The office of the Tamil National Alliance candidate Antony Kirirajan contesting for the Colombo Municipal Council was declared open in Puliyantheewu South. Illankai Tamil Arasu Katchi General Secretary Attorney at Law K. Thurairasasingam and former TNA Parliamentarian Ariyenendran were present.
The Unite National Party candidates for the polls for local government bodies in the Vavuniya district commenced their election campaign with religious observances in Vavuniya Kandasawmy temple and panssala. The candidates led by Thambapillai Premanandarasa contesting for Chairmanship in Vavuniya Urban Council led the campaign.

Wheel chairs and special beds were donated to the Kandy Hospital under the auspices of the Singapore Buddhist youths recently. The donations were received by Central Province Governor Nilukka Ekkanayake at her office.
