Australia beats New Zealand to win the World Cup title

Australia beat New Zealand by 7 wickets at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday to win the World Cup title.

New Zealand skipper Brendon MuCullum won the toss and elected to bat first. New Zealand were bowled out for 183 in 45 overs. Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc bowled Brendon MuCullum for duck with the 5th ball of the first over. Grant Elliott top scored with 83

Needing just a 184 to win, Australia reached the target comfortably in 33.1 overs  with 7 wickets in hand. Australian Skipper Michel Clarke, appearing in his final ODI scored 74 while Steve Smith hit 56 not out.

James Faulkner was adjudged the Man of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.

This is the fifth World Cup win for Australia. They had won the World Cup title in 1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007.
