Banwarilal sworn in as Tamil Nadu Governor


Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit took oaths before Madras High Court Chief Justice Indira Banerjee at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai on Friday. The Chief Justice administered the oath of office to the new Governor in the lawns of the Raj Bhavan.

Sivaji Ganesan Memorial inaugurated in Chennai


The Sivaji Ganesan memorial was inaugurated on his birth anniversary by Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Pannerselavam. Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju, senior members of South Indian Artistes Association and the family of Sivaji Ganesan were present. Actors Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan were among the dignitaries on the dais.

Banwarilal Purohit appointed Governor of Tamil Nadu


Indian President Ramnath Kovind has appointed Banwarilal Purohit, currently the Governor of Assam, as the Governor of Tamil Nadu. He will take over from Vidyasagar Rao, who is at present the Governor of Maharashtra with the additional charge of Tamil Nadu.

A retired judge heads probe into Jaya’s death


Tamil Nadu State government has appointed a commission of Inquiry to probe the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Justice A. Arumughaswamy, a retired judge of the Madras High Court, will head the Commission of Inquiry. 

Holding Floor Test; Court has no jurisdiction to give directive to Governor


Tamil Nadu Advocate General Vijay Narayan has observed that Court cannot direct Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to ask Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami to prove his majority in the Legislative Assembly as he (Governor) enjoys constitutional immunity from answering courts with respect of performance of his official duties.
