Tamil Nadu Opposition meets President, urges floor test


A delegation of Opposition leaders in Tamil Nadu met President Ram Nath Kovind on August 31 and urged him to direct the holding of an immediate floor test in the Tamil Nadu Assembly so that Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami can prove his majority.

Leaders from the DMK, the Congress, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and the Communist Party of India (CPI) told the President that the Palaniswami government had lost majority support as 19 MLAs owing allegiance to the T.T.V. Dhinakaran faction in the AIADMK have told the Governor that they have withdrawn support to the Chief Minister.
