Seek President's nod to make Tamil language of Madras HC:Vaiko to TN Govt

Marumalarchi Dravidian Munnetra Kalakam General Secretary Vaiko has requested the Tamil Nadu State Government to take relevant steps to obtain Indian President's nod to make Tamil the official language of the Madras High Court.

He added that the demand has been pending for a long time. He pointed out that Hindi has been made official language of the High Courts in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. But an injustice has been done to Tamil Nadu in this regard.

He further pleaded that Section 348(2) provides for making the local languages of the states the official language of High Courts.
